Michael Alosi put in a lot of time making this film and met with many communities & individuals across the globe. Watch & tell him what you think of the film at the links below.
I'm very impressed by Michael's interest in many different viewpoints and the great amount of care he shows for parkour and freerunning. An instant classic and favorite.
As an aside, I remember meeting Michael a while back and I'm always pleased to see myself and my fellow traceurs in his film. That includes you too Chris!
wow this was amazing i knew the difference of parkour and freerunning but now i feel like i have a far better idea of the philosophies of parkour and freerunning
I will probably do an audio interview with Michael Alosi about the film. If you have any questions that you'd like answered in the interview you can post them in this thread or here
I just finished watching, and all I can say is wow. There is so much good this video can and will do if enough people see it. I'd almost recommend it to anyone confused about parkour and freerunning and whatever, although a huge point of this video is that whatever you do, it's your choice, and yours alone.
Personally, Toorock's dig on gaming offended me a bit, but that's just me.
I think this would be a video better discussed in person than on the internet, just because of how dense it is. There are some ideas I have from this that are very difficult to express in writing.
Brilliant. Parkour was never meant to be defined, it was meant to be practiced. I feel that this documentary captures that mentality perfectly.
The footage was amazing. All of the moving camera shots, night shots, and Polaroid cameos truly shows Michael's ingeniously creative eye.
And the staggering amount of research and travel that went into this is a landmark step in understanding the immense influence Parkour has in many global cultures. I honestly do believe with Kaos as well that the future of Parkour rests in the hands of the local communities.
Overall parts of the video were good, and some parts weren't so great. M2, Victor and the other Team Tempest guys, the Chinese traceurs, and that team vayne kinda ruined it in my opinion. I liked how the filmmaker traveled all over to get different perspectives, but the guys I mentioned before didn't seem like they really understood the core concepts of parkour. Also it seems like more people were for parkour competitions than against it which was a little disappointing. Also what the heck is pure parkour? I can understand why he uses it but there is no such thing. There is just one parkour. Also it was nice to see some movement clips from you kaos ;) hmmm what else??? I'll have to watch it again later and maybe i'll comment more of my thoughts on it. Overall I enjoyed it for the most part.
Keep in mind E.rad that some people know the core concepts, but simply do not care. They have other goals that are more important to them.
While others are at the beginning of their journey like the Chinese people that were featured. It is hard to fault people who don't know better. I was once that reckless.
As for Vayne...I really have no clue why they were in this film.
yeah that's true Kaos. And yeah it's unfair to blame the chinese traceurs if they're new but I wish that was pointed out or something in the film just so people wouldn't get the wrong idea...
