Nothing major; some major arm soreness (entire right arm if I train and put too much strain on it), and there's a very acute, dull/ aching pain in a bone in my right hand. It feels kinda like a mild sprain.

Are there any amateur doctors (or real ones, for that matter) among everyone who can tell me how long a mild sprain in my hand should take to heal?

First, you're assuming your hand is sprained. If your entire arm hurts, I'd look farther up (elbow, shoulder). That said, soft tissue injuries suck - breaks often heal quicker than sprains.

If it keeps hurting, seeing a real doctor would be a good idea.

Thankfully, it's not a real persistent pain. It feels fine with light activity, but if I use my arm aggressively then the nerves in my arm light up like a 4th of July night sky.

It's possible that I just really overworked my shoulder and elbow, but one of the bones in my hand doesn't feel great when I press on it with a finger. I can do martial arts and kickboxing practice with not much discomfort except when striking hard with my right hand...I'm gonna avoid doing that. But, point is, I didn't wreck myself.

I'm assuming a week of rest should see me back to just about 100%.

Erm your elbow to? I would actually get that checked out, incase of it turning out to be tennis-elbow. Mainly because this is how they treat it.

-First time - Cortozone shot.
-Second time - Cortozone shot.
-Third time - Cortozone shot.
-Fourth time - Cortozone eats the tissues that make your arm bones attatch and keep from hitting each other (tendons) so now your going in for elbow surgery, Not fun.

I hurt my ankles pretty bad when I first started Parkour do to some shitty shoes (I had no clue what I was doing). Ever take a dixie cup, flip it then push down on it? Well that was what happened to my ankels but I didn't feel like getting them checked out, 2 months rest healed them, as did propper shoes. Morale of the story; If I went to the doctors he would diagnosed it earlier and I may have had 2 extra months. Go see a doc ;)

where does it hurt in your hand?, ( I am more familure with hand injuries than arm injuries) more details of where the pains are and the type of pains would be really useful though for both your hand and your arm, does it hurt when you move it, poke it, stretch it?,... is it dull ache, burning?,... and where specificaly is the pain, bicep, tricep, humorous, elbow joint, shoulder joint, etc?... in the hand: knuckle, palm, back, etc?

The pain is localized in between the bones and tendons leading to my ring-finger knuckle and my middle-finger knuckle. It's right in back of the knuckles, and hurts if I stretch it too much or engage the muscles to much (grip and hold something with a moderate to strong grip). The pain is more of a dull ache that crescendos with a sharper sort of pain if I grip too hard.

As for my arm pain...I think it was a combination of my hand plus overworked shoulder muscle that caused it. Now that my shoulders have had some time to heal up, the arm pain has subsided.

ok so now the very important question is how did you hurt it?

I think just overuse; climbing, hanging, and maybe a few rolls with poor technique. Also, punching in martial arts didn't help. So, just a lot of overuse and maybe a few extra-hard hits to my hand.

The pain in your hand sounds like you've been climbing too much, I know I get that from rock climbing too frequently, at least when I was getting back into it. If you're going to keep climbing with the pain, just try to use your full hand rather than hanging from your fingertips, and do more dips.

Also, if you're having doubts about whether it's healed or not, just ice it. Also, stretch before and after you train.

I discovered part of my problem; my punching technique wasn't spot-on, which resulted in me weakening my wrist over a period of 2 or 3 weeks, culminating in a hand/ wrist injury. I'm sure the excessive climbing and whatnot didn't help.

yep thats a pretty big problem... sounds to me like you are damaging the tendons with sheering from incorrect punches and then climing on it is making it harder to heal... and icing is basicaly useless after about 48 hours of injuring it... but if you re-injure it its a good idea... best advice i can give you is to try to adapt to using one hand for a week to 2 weeks to give it a rest... or just work on precisions and one sided vaults
certainly steer clear of rock climbing and punching for a bit

(but hey I am a hypocryte all the way, I train on injuries all the time...its just not a good idea)

Good news everybody!

My wrist is healed, and I'm ready to conquer the world.
